Announcement: Photo exhibition “2 Years on Fire: the Full-Scale War Against Ukraine Through the Eyes of the World”
As the devastating war against Ukraine carries on into its second year, the invincible spirit of the Ukrainian people continues to shine through. For the past two years, Ukrainian civilians and the Armed Forces have faced incredible challenges with unwavering resilience and courage. This prolonged period of adversity has not only tested the strength of Ukraine but has also evoked enormous expressions of global solidarity. Governments, organizations, and regular people united in support of Ukraine, denouncing the injustice, and advocating for Ukraine's victory that would end the suffering endured since that fateful day on February 24, 2022.
Through this exhibition, we aim to offer you a glimpse into life in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, as captured by courageous Ukrainian and international photographers and journalists who risked their lives to document the harsh realities of the ongoing war. These powerful images serve as a poignant reminder of the current situation in Ukraine. Many of the photographers, as well as volunteers, remain on the frontlines, tirelessly capturing the unfolding events of each new day of the war. In preparation for this exhibition, the participants of the exhibition and the UASAZ team dealt with the emotional weight of reliving many of the moments since the war’s inception. Although it was a difficult task, we believe these images are crucial in conveying the stark truths of the ongoing war.
While some photos may evoke sadness or powerlessness, we aim to inspire hope through this collection. Amidst the challenges, these images illustrate the resilience of the human spirit, showcasing that life persists despite obstacles. They highlight the enduring strength of free individuals fighting for freedom, homeland, and loved ones. Against the backdrop of a terrible war, life in Ukraine persists – doctors are saving lives, firefighters and rescuers rescue people and restore infrastructure, children are born, couples are getting married, businesses continue to operate, while the Armed Forces valiantly fight to protect OUR home. We acknowledge the bravery of those who risk their lives every day so that all these normal things are possible. We also recognize and thank the people who risked their safety to present these visuals to the public, hoping that they will evoke a deep and meaningful response from all who view them.
It is us and only us who decides what we are fighting for and with whom we stand together.
With this exhibition, we would like to remind you once again what Ukrainians are fighting for and why Ukraine continuously needs your help. Stand with Ukraine and be brave like Ukrainians!
Sincerely,
Your UASAZ team
