Eco event 'Cry, My River'

On November 6, we hosted an event at ETH Zurich to commemorate the International Day for the Prevention of Environmental Violations in War and Armed Conflict. The evening brought together experts and attendees to explore the pressing issue of environmental degradation during war.

The event began with an inspiring address by Marianna Yeleiko, who introduced paragraph 12 of the Declaration of Human Responsibilities, reminding us of our duty to protect resources and biodiversity. The screening of "Cry, My River", directed by Olesya Morhunets Isaenko, was deeply moving. The film highlighted the fragile state of Ukraine’s water bodies, and Olesya’s heartfelt introduction underscored the urgency of protecting natural ecosystems.

The panel discussion that followed brought a dynamic and diverse perspective to the evening. Moderated by Professor Olena Melnyk (@melnyktsog), the dialogue between the panelists—Olesya Morhunets Isaenko (@olesya_morhunets), Alina Piddubna (IT company "Intellias"), Liz Olegov, and Richard von Groeling (Alex21 for Ukraine - @alex21forukraine) — was engaging and thought-provoking. Each speaker brought a unique lens to the conversation, from practical technological solutions to the emotional and cultural impact of war on the environment.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all the participants, our esteemed speakers, and everyone who attended, both in person and online. Your engagement and contributions made this event a powerful platform for raising awareness and inspiring action. We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the panelists for their dedicated and incredible work, as well as for their unwavering support and efforts in helping Ukraine during these challenging times.

Our thanks go as well to the World Ukrainian Cooperation Society (WUCS - @worlduacoop.society) and the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation (@hawrylyshyn_family_fund) for the collaboration, which was instrumental in making this event possible.
