Gösgen-Däniken Nuclear Power Plant Visit, Dec 7
On Saturday, December 7th, we had a unique opportunity to visit the Gösgen-Däniken Nuclear Power Plant. Approximately 13% of Switzerland's electricity is produced at this plant. During the tour, we could not only hear about nuclear energy and the station’s structure and safety measures but also see many things with our eyes! Making radioactivity visible - easy, it was the first highlight of the tour! Visiting the machinery room (you can see such things only in the movies!), looking inside the control room (like a huge spaceship with many buttons and screens!) and walking by the cooling tower (who knows, maybe it is more impressive than Niagara Falls!) truly impressed us with their scale and engineering complexity. This tour was for sure a memorable and informative experience. Last, but not least, it showcased Switzerland's commitment to maintaining a balanced and reliable energy mix while highlighting the cutting-edge technology and skilled professionals that make it possible. We appreciate the Gösgen-Däniken Nuclear Power Plant and its staff (especially our guides) for having us for such a wonderful tour!
